Here's the news:
Well, there isn't all that much new, but here is the latest:
I am REALLY wishing the guys over at Adobe would quit playing minigolf in their cubicles and finally finish the carbon beta that has been Photoshop 7 for a very long time now. It is getting extremely annoying to have to run Photoshop in the Classic Environment under OS X, which is neither very fast nor very stable. Oh well. It will be announced soon, that is for sure. I just wish it would be NOW.
Since the introduction of the new LCD iMac and the 1 GHz Power Macintosh G4s our G4 has seemed quite obsolete...
In case you are interested in what programs we use, we mostly use Corel's Bryce 4. Sigh, in our opinion, Bryce 5 isn't really worth the upgrade (yet). We also use Strata VideoShop, Strata MediaPaint (we LOVE that program), and of course, Adobe PhotoShop. On occasion, we use Illustrator, but since no one in 3D uses anything vector, we try to avoid it. There is GraphicConverter, which we use to build our animated GIFs, decompile mov's, but not much else. We used to use Pixels 3D and StrataVision, but not anymore...both were too limited...we only used them for modeling. We use Poser 4 to create custom figures (no, we don't use the junk textures that MetaCreations provided with the program). Last of all, we are just beginning to decipher the strange and quite un-Mac-like interface of LightWave 5. We've created a couple very interesting space stations, a few abstract models, metaball manipulation, but nothing particularly useful. Expect to see some cool stuff later, but not anytime real soon.
Maya from Alias|Wavefront looks oh-so-promising, especially since it is carbonized, however, I really don't have several thousand dollars to spare. However, for anyone with the cash, Mac OS X (and only one processor) I HIGHLY recommend it.

New options available!
Today at ePix we are able to render terrains (mountains, lakes, desert, islands, etc.), as well as stills of realistic human figures! We are able to render outer space scenes, underground scenes, water scenes, anything you can think of! Most of the graphics made at ePix just for you are created with MetaCreations' Bryce 4. Other graphics are created with PIXELS 3D, MetaCreations' Poser 4, and Adobe Photoshop versions 4 and 5.5. Most graphics are rendered on a Power Macintosh G4 running Mac OS X to get the files to you as quickly as possible. We also have a PowerBook G4, Quadra 650, an M-Power clone, and a IIsi as backup.
